Rebekah, Mike & Mr K – E-Session – 29th August 2010

Naw…. these are so cute. Bek and Mike brought the very smiley Kayden along to the E-Session. We were worried how he would go (grumbles, crying.. usually the reaction kids have to me.. ) but honestly, he could not have been better! He loved the camera so much and worked it very well.

Bek was a bridesmaid in Renee & Gerard’s gorgeous wedding last January. Renee is going to be in the bridal party this time around too. I have said before, I love when this happens as not only is it a great compliment to be back again, it’s also great to catch up with people.

Bek also runs a fanatstic little business called “My Friend Matilda” selling all sorts of gorgeous things. You need to check it out.

Enjoy these images and more to come from their wedding in Caversham in October

Emma & Andrew – E-Session – 29th August 2010

More E-Session goodness! These two met me out in the Swan Valley for a lovely little shoot on Sunday afternoon. Their wedding is only in a couple of weeks so we just managed to squeeze this session in. Emma is a beautician so she has some insider knowledge on how to look your best (and she sure did), I particularly LOVE her long eyelashes! So girls, they aren’t just for weddings…

Andrew is great value, I remember our first meeting, we chatted on for ages! I think I have finally found someone who could perhaps out talk me.. well at least keep up anyway!

Here is their E-Session and if this is anything to go by, the wedding is going to be awesome.

Rebecca & Craig – E-Session – 28th August 2010

It’s time for E-Sessions! I love them, they are relaxed, casual and a great way for all of us to get comfortable with each other.

Rebecca and Craig met me up at King’s Park last Saturday afternoon for what was the first of three sessions this weekend. They brought along a special guest too, Rebecca’s son. E-Sessions don’t just have to be for the bride and groom, extras are allowed too!

We had a lovely afternoon at the park and here are some of my favourites. Rebecca & Craig’s wedding is in November out in the Swan Valley and it should be beautiful.

Western Australian Professional Photographer Awards

Well, I am back from holiday… much to my disappointment! No, I really LOVE New Zealand and could be tempted to move there one day, but happy to be home and back in to things. Nothing like your own bed after a long holiday, especially when you have been sleeping in a campervan for almost a month!

The WAPP awards are held annually and you can enter into many different categories. I entered wedding only this year as I was trying to ease myself into it. You submit three prints which form your ‘folio’. Based on this folio, the judges decide who is the winner of the category and then select what they deem to be your best print out of the three. This is the print that gets judged in front of everyone.

The day after I got back from New Zealand, it was the print judging for the WAPP awards. This is the first year I had entered so I was very nervous. I had a knot in my stomach the whole day, even through categories I hadn’t even entered! After sitting there for nearly 9 hours, the wedding category came up and I really started feeling sick.

Part of the nervousness is that you don’t know which print they are going to bring up.. I kept peeping around the corner to see if I was next, finally my print came up. The print they chose was a bridal portrait of Jee that I just love. I was glad they picked that one. I got a score of 84 which is really good. I was one point off a distinction award which was kind of a bummer, but 84 is a great score, especially for my first entry.

It was a great experience and I have had some advice on the print and how it could score higher so I will be tweaking a few things and entering it into the Australia wide competition next year.

Here are the three prints I entered, let me know what you think!

Holidays!

Just to let everyone know I am heading off to New Zealand today for some holidays in the snow!

I will have acces to internet so should still be able to receive emails, but I am unsure about coverage so I apologise in advance for any delays in responding.

I will be back into work full time from the 30th of August so will get back to anyone I missed after then.. Here are a couple of shots from when I was there last year… Hopefully lots more gorgeous photos to come!

Have a great August!

Rachael & Abe – 5th June 2010 – Wedding

Rachael and Abe were my last couple of the season… and it was such a lovely way to end it too… so cruisy, relaxed and fun.

We only had about a half an hour for photos but I think we definitely made the most of the time.

I can’t say enough how much I love weddings in April, May and June..

Jee & Matt – 22nd May 2010 – Wedding

I am sooo in love with this wedding… everything was just beautiful! Birdcage veil, Badgley Mischka shoes… everything so lovely.

This wedding is also a testament to weather not ruining your day. Storms were forecast the day of the wedding so Jee and Matt had the ceremony moved from outdoors into a church. And what a beautiful church is was.. must of been a sign..

While we did get some raindrops (see the picture os the girls below using their bouquets for shelter) we managed to stay dry and get some awesome shots. Cloud makes for beautiful light and when the sun just peeps though – it’s perfect!

Thank you Jee and Matt, I had a fantastic day with you guys, you were heaps of fun. Thanks also to Belinda for helping me out on the day, you did and awesome job.

Charlene & Jon – 7th May – Wedding

This was such a lovely intimate wedding. Including myself and the bride and groom, there were 11 people in attendance. Charlene & Jon are from the UK and some of their close family made the trip over for their wedding. I loved the closeness of it, it was very emotional for everyone there (lots of tissues!).

This is the last wedding I ever shot at the Pine Forest in Kings Park. About two weeks after this wedding the whole area was cleared as the trees were diseased and needed to be taken down. It is such a shame that such a lovely spot is no longer, but at the same time it’s nice now that both myself and my clients will have to look to other spots for gorgeous pictures, and there are plenty!

I am meeting with Charlene and Jon tonight to show them their collection but just got this blog post done in time for them to have a sneak peek.
